Dr. Ramakumar has 30+ years of uninterrupted experience in the downstream hydrocarbons sector notably in areas of lubricant technology, refinery process research and catalyst development. He was instrumental in the development of India’s home-grown, OEM-approved marine lubricant technology and he spearheaded the complete indigenization of Indian Oil’s flagship INDMAX technology.

Dr. Ramakumar pioneered various alternative energy programs including waste-energy, bio, solar and energy storage. He steered the IndianOil’s Hydrogen endeavors & presently is on the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy's National Expert Committee which is responsible for offering technical advice for implementation of the recently announced National Hydrogen Mission Roadmap. He is also the current Chairman of BIS PCD-3 committee which sets the national performance standards of all kinds of fossil and alternate fuels.

A fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE), Dr. Ramakumar has received many awards, including NPMP, FIPI, NRDC, AIIMA Innovation, Bangalore Nano and WPC Excellence Award for product and process technologies that he developed. He has over 150 research publications in national/international journals and a sizeable number of granted patents. He has led Indian Oil’s Petrochemicals, Natural Gas, Exploration & Production, Alternate Energy & Sustainable Development, International Business and Explosives verticals in his past assignments.
